Not only does Inkpony of Park City create non-toxic clothing for your kids, they go the extra mile by using sustainable manufacturing like recycled picture frames and remnant cloth to build their screens. If you are in the Park City or Salt Lake area, you can avoid shipping costs on your Inkpony orders by meeting with someone from the team in person. Wow, what a cool company!

As seen in past posts at the Dear Dr.MOZ Baby Blog (see: making your own baby food), organic baby food is relatively inexpensive and easy to make once you have the basic supplies. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time to shop, chop, cook, and freeze your own baby food…and time is the one thing that today’s parents don’t have. This is why families in the Newport Beach area are rolling their strollers up the to the pomme bébé organic baby food bar!

Pomme bébé’s organic baby and toddler food is created in small batches by their head chef Laurent Brazier who chooses his menu using in-season ingredients free from preservatives and artificial flavors. Unlike most canned baby food found in stores, pomme bébé simmers their food slowly to retain natural colors and nutrients. Visit their site at www.pommebebe.com to learn more about their fresh baby/toddler food, and learn how easy it is to have an order shipped via FedEx to your home.

If you’ve purchased children’s furniture in recent years, chances are good that you were forced to choose a piece that was (a) sturdy but slightly ugly, or (b) cute and completely plastic. Thanks to this green business, you can have style and American-made quality without sacrificing the environment along the way!

Roebuck Studio of Michigan uses water based interior wall paints and baltic birch plywood which uses less glue than standard engineered wood materials. One thing that they do have in common with the IKEA-type warehouse stores, Roebuck Studio’s furniture also arrives flat in a box ready for easy assembly! You might also be interested to know that most of their pieces are available in a variety of colors, clear finish, or a combination of both. I’m loving the half-clear and half-painted style seen in the pieces above…and there’s something particularly appealing about that storage box isn’t there?

Two topics that I consistently hear people griping about (justifiably I might add) are the economy, and dangerous product recalls. The two may not seem connected at first, but we’re quickly learning that our obsession for the absolute lowest price is driving American manufactures overseas. The cost of doing business is lower thanks to cheap labor and nonexistent environmental regulations, but we’re paying for it in many other ways.

If you’re truly tired the endless stream of product recalls, why not do something about it with your economic vote? This holiday season, place your vote for small US-based businesses like Sew Vermont Kids! Run by childhood friends Jess and Missy, Sew Vermont Kids aims to help better the environment by using sustainable organic fabrics. Your investment in their handmade baby hats, funky burp cloths, and reusable shopping bags help support the American economy and they make great gifts. Check them out at SewVermontKids.com and at the Sew Vermont Kids Blog, and don’t forget to tell them that the moose sent ya!
